Home remedies for dark circles under the eyes

The skin around the eyes is extremely delicate. Hence, dark circles under the eyes is a common problem with everyone. There can be many reasons for the dark circles like ageing, stress, hormonal changes or lack of sleep. You can probably hide them with makeup for a few hours, but it isn’t the permanent fix. We present a list of simple yet effective home remedies that help remove or reduce the dark circles under the eyes.

Tomato & Lemon Juice

Tomato & Lemon Juice

  • Mix equal parts tomato juice with lemon juice
  • Use a cotton ball to apply it to the under-eye area & let it sit for 10 minutes
  • Wash it off with some warm water
  • Do this twice a day for about a week.

Cold Tea Bags

Cold Tea Bags

  • Chill two black or green tea bags in the fridge for about 30 minutes
  • Place tea bags on eyes for 10 to 15 minutes
  • Keep your eyes closed while the tea bags are in place
  • Afterwards, wash your eyes off
  • Do this once or twice daily for a few weeks.

Mint Leaves

Mint Leaves

  • Crush a few mint leaves with water & form a paste
  • Apply the paste on the dark circles under the eyes
  • Leave it for 10 minutes & wash it off with cold water
  • Repeat the process for a week & experience a refreshing change under your eyes.

Crushed Almonds & Milk

Crushed Almonds & Milk

  • Soak almonds in water & grind them into a paste
  • Mix the almond paste with a small amount of milk & apply the mixture under the eyes for 10 minutes
  • Wash it off with cold water & pat dry
  • Repeat the same process thrice a week.

Grated Potatoes

Grated Potatoes

  • Grate some potatoes & extract some juice out of it
  • Soak cotton pads into the juice & place it on dark circles for 10 minutes
  • Rinse it off with warm water for best results

Nutmeg & Milk

Nutmeg & Milk

  • Mix half a teaspoon of nutmeg & milk to make a paste
  • Apply the paste to your clean under-eye area & leave it for 20 minutes
  • Rinse it off with lukewarm water & pat dry
  • Repeat the process three times a week.

Cucumber

Cucumber

  • Cut thick cucumber slices & keep in the refrigerator for 30 minutes
  • Put the slices on your under-eye skin for 10 minutes & rinse off the area with water 
  • Repeat this process twice daily for at least a week.

Cold Milk

Cold Milk

  • Soak a cotton makeup remover pad in a bowl of cold milk 
  • Use the pad to apply the milk to your under-eye skin & let it sit for about 10 minutes
  • Rinse with warm water & repeat the process twice daily.
