Brownie In A Mug Recipe

Brownie in a Mug

Out of all the phases of life, PG life remains my most favourite one. Because that was the first time when I was away from the family, learning many new skills, and making memories almost every day in the company of dear friends. Life moves on and with that movement, people change places. I and other friends also had to move ahead in search of the next destination. Those days won’t come back ever – but sometimes, I still take my mind back to those times, remember the trivial talks we had, and laugh in my mind.

Being away from home, we all were adjusting to the meal-deals provided by the PG kitchen. And that’s when we all learned to experiment with food. I used to sprinkle “Bhujia” over daal-chawal while my room-mate used an iron to make cheese sandwiches. Many such time-saving and money-saving techniques were thus adopted back then. Now, this takes me back to an incident that happened nearly 7-8 years ago in my PG.

Naina, my senior in college lived next door to me. It was her birthday. We all were so busy with our project works and upcoming exams that it just skipped our minds. Her roommate was a cry-baby named Anjali who overheard the phone conversation where someone was wishing her “Happy Birthday” and rushed into my room crying, “Naina will never forgive us now. She never forgets anyone’s birthday and none of us could remember her big day”. Well, the time was past 12 midnight and as per the PG rules, the main gate closed at 10 P.M. Therefore, going out and collecting a birthday cake from 24X7 or “In N Out” kind of shops was also not possible.

I called my mom who was worried receiving my call at 12:15 A.M. I narrated the whole thing to her and she then shared an easy, time-saving, and life-saving “Brownie In A Mug” recipe with me. We couldn’t switch on the light because the PG owner (a 65 years old lady) would wake up and scold us. So, we went to the kitchen with quiet steps and used our mobile torch lights to find the ingredients. We used a candle at the center and went into Naina’s room playing our party song and saw her giggle in surprise. Not knife but a spoon was used the moment she blew the candle in the company of our croaky “Happy Birthday” song.

Here is that “Brownie in a mug” recipe for everyone to enjoy. Especially people who are staying in PG’s and want something time-saving yet tasty.

Ingredients

  • Butter or Refined oil- 2 Tsp
  • Vanilla Extract- 1/4th tsp
  • Milk or Chocolate Milk – 2 Tsp
  • Sugar (crush if possible)- 2 tsp (depends on your taste bud though)
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder- 2 Tsp
  • All Purpose Flour- 4 Tsp
  • Chocolate Chips (optional)- Just a handful

Process of Making Brownie In A Mug

  1. First of all, you need a coffee mug where you have to add water or milk, melted butter or oil, a dash of salt, and vanilla extract.
  2. Give a very nice whisk to these ingredients so that they mix well.
  3. Now, add cocoa powder, sugar, and flour one by one. After adding one ingredient whisk well and then proceed to add the next ingredient.
  4. Your work is done now. Simply put the mug inside a microwave and bake it for 60 seconds.
  5. Be careful not to overcook. The center will be slightly molten.
  6. Just dig into this delectable brownie.

If you don’t have cocoa powder, you can substitute that with Bournvita or chocolate Horlicks too. As a substitute for chocolate chips, simply break a bar of chocolate and use them in this recipe.

It is rightly said that as God cannot be everywhere so there are moms. Moms always have solutions to problems of all kinds. If she wouldn’t have shared that mind-blowing recipe – would there be this sweet memory of friendship and love? I, Naina, and Anjali – we all still meet thrice a year to spoil ourselves with food and fun. We treat ourselves with that amazing Brownie in a Mug to dissolve the ongoing turmoils of our lives. The best part is, we still make one Brownie and share rather than making three. The taste, satisfaction, and comfort we find in this simple brownie cannot be found in any lavish cake.
