A 15-year-old young resident from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Sairi Rahangdale is a Bharatnatyam dancer by profession from a young age. She has performed in more than 200 programs. Her house feels proud in showcasing the prestigious awards like the Kalashree Award, Rohilkand Award, Panchratna Award, and Nrityashree Award. At such a young age, applaud, recognition, and money could have swept her. But she is here to make a difference really! She selflessly donates all her earnings for the poor and underprivileged kids of her locality and slums. Sairi also teaches free Bharatnatyam dance to those kids who want to learn this dance form. She ensures that whoever comes to learn dance from her gets home-cooked food too. She visits the old age home regularly to spend quality and fun time with the senior citizens; never encourages anyone to spend money on firecrackers; feed street kids and orphanage kids.

Sanitation & Social Awareness:

Some students in a district of Chhattisgarh came to know about the sanitation crisis. So, they took a step forward to improve the condition. 1.38 lakh children wrote letters to their parents! the kids also had discussions with their parents and motivated their parents to build toilets in their homes. With that simple thought, the sanitation coverage in the district rose by 25%.

Science & Agriculture:

A bright kid, Subhendu Kumar Sahu, belonging to the Ganjam district of Odisha got recognition for his notable work. He received the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement from President Pranab Mukherjee in 2016. Subhendu was the inventor of an innovative device that helps the farmers in sowing, tilling, spreading pesticides, and cutting & processing of crops.

Engineering & Fire Safety:

Jayakumar from Tamil Nadu once saw his mother suffer from serious burns. His mother works at one of the Sivakasi’s fireworks factories. Since then he wanted to do something to stop the mishaps and subduing fires before they spread. In his mission, he got the support from his science teacher. An inexpensive extinguisher was developed by him that triggers a water motor when it senses abnormal heat. This trick worked and now he is busy developing the same extinguisher at a larger scale. Previously, he has also worked on the development of an LPG gas leak sensor!

Innovative Idea To Combat Air Pollution:

2016 saw Priyanka Panda from Bhubaneswar winning the prestigious IGNITE award from the President. Her innovative idea is something which can really bring a big change if others also cooperate. She made an instrument that helps the motorists to be aware of the ways in which they pollute the air. The instrument uses a monitor to be kept next to the odometer. This monitor then shows warning alerts and messages when the motorist is wasting fuel or adding more to air pollution.
