Story Behind the usage of Kalamkari while launching India’s First Rakhi Brand- Sneh by FNP<\/strong><\/p>\n

The beautiful art form of Kalamkari dates back to 3000 B.C. and it originated in Andhra Pradesh. The painters of Machilipatnam are known for introducing the world to this brilliant art form that is all about hand-painting and block printing. The Mughals promoted Kalamkari in the Golconda and Coromandel provinces during the medieval period. Although, it was also used centuries ago when storytellers went from one village to the other, painting on canvases to depict stories for the villagers. \u2018Kalamkari\u2019 translates to \u2018pen craftsmanship\u2019 and has recently developed to mean intricate hand block prints on textiles, including sarees that are originally made mainly in Andhra Pradesh.<\/p>\n

Old is gold, and so, FNP thought of reviving this art form and blending it with India’s most celebrated festival- Raksha Bandhan.\u00a0The packaging and design of the products for Sneh derive inspiration from the hand-block prints of Kalamkari and are adorned with motifs of flowers, peacocks & paisleys. The products are handmade meticulously by one of the many \u2018kaarigars\u2019, or craftspersons, ensuring each product conveys the affectionate bond between the siblings.<\/p>\n
