But at times, you are so preoccupied choosing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fnp.com\/gifts-lp\">perfect gifts<\/a> that you end making mistakes which might ruin the entire experience. To make sure your efforts don\u2019t go in vain, avoid the following commonly made mistakes of gifting:<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Don\u2019t wait until the last minute<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>If you know an occasion is coming up, plan for the gift in advance. Do not wait until the last moment to buy a present. Last-minute presents are for unexpected occasions.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Don\u2019t procrastinate<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>We often procrastinate giving gifts to people thinking they might like it or not. For example, a friend of mine got cosmetic for me on my birthday. Though I don\u2019t wear makeup that often, she didn\u2019t think much. Give it a chance, do not procrastinate.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Don\u2019t gift something you would never buy for yourself:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Well, remember if you don\u2019t like something yourself then another person might not like it either. It is as simple as it sounds.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Don\u2019t go overboard<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Being super excited for a friend\u2019s birthday is good. You need to be enthusiastic while gifting, but not overly-enthusiastic. Don\u2019t give the other person something extravagant which would make them feel awkward. Keep it simple.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Don\u2019t brag<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>There would be times when you got a great gift for someone you love. When they do open the gift, turns out they love it. But that does not give you the right to make a big deal out of it. No one likes a show-off.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>No overwhelming<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Gifting is all about emotion, and not making the other person feel uncomfortable. If you inundate them with gifts, they may not know how to react.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Don\u2019t make assumptions<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>When we know the other person too well, we often assume their likings and purchase a gift for them. Now before, giving the gift we may say \u201cI know you\u2019re going to love this.\u201d Let the other person open the gift and decide it for themselves, don\u2019t ruin it.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Don\u2019t give gift cards they won\u2019t use<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>When you are giving a gift card don\u2019t give it for a place they won\u2019t shop at. For example, someone who does not wear ethnic, there is no point giving them a gift card for a store which sells only ethnic wear.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Don\u2019t Re-Gift<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>It is normal to pass on gifts we don\u2019t want, and a very famous example is soan papdi on Diwali. Don\u2019t pass on gifts you don\u2019t want, it is just rude.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Don\u2019t gift for greed<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Gifting comes with no expectations.
