Every year, National Desserts Day is celebrated on 14<\/span>th<\/span> October in the United States. It is a day when people savour the dessert of their choice to satisfy their sweet tooth. There is no reliable information available as to when National Dessert Day was started in the USA but it is surely known how the word \u2018dessert\u2019 came into existence. The word \u2018dessert\u2019 comes from the French word \u2018desservir\u2019, which means \u2018to clear the table.\u2019 It refers to the dish that came after clearing the main dishes that were served as part of the meal. Around the 15<\/span>th<\/span> century, a lot of chefs started adding a lot of sugar to their savoury dishes. At the same time, Key Lime Pie was introduced in Florida as there was an abundance of lime trees planted by the Spanish during the 18<\/span>th<\/span> century.
