The floricultural industry is going through trying times in tuhe wake of the global economic crunch, but the floral industries in India seemed moderately better off. The reason behind the sustained floral market even during the recession is the strong domestic demand of flowers for various occasions like, valentines day weddings, Christmas, events, birthdays, anniversaries etc, which is expected to get a further boost from a mega event like Commonwealth Games to be held this year. Happily, the meltdown in the economy has brought out the Indian industry intrinsic strength, contributing new challenges and opportunities to the retailers.
Indian Floriculture industry has strong reason to be content to fight away the economic slowdown which has effected the world economy in a big way. India's main potency has always been its dynamic demand of flowers from its domestic market, and not its exports. The demand at home for flowers and flower products continues to pour in for marriages, social functions, parties etc. Flowers are also considered to be the best gifting options which helps a person to express emotions without the said words. More and more people today are opting to gift flowers to their loved ones to make the day special.
The economic slowdown which has effected the world economy did not have conspicuous impact on the flower market neither in India nor abroad. But today the flower industry is looking forward to have better business opportunities during the common wealth games that will attract athletes, officials, and visitors from abroad in thousands. The Common wealth games have generated a hope to enhance the business in all sectors during that period so the retailers are preparing themselves to meet the demand during that period.
From the ancient times till today, India has always been famous for its traditions, culture and hospitality. The warmth in the relations which are practiced in India and excitement to celebrate all festivals and special occasions have made the country to stands out distinctively in the clutter. The country's energy, kindness and culture attract a number of tourists. The cuisines, festivals, music, literature, and theatre...Everything is 'special' in this 'land of gods'
As we know that the 2010 Commonwealth Games will be India's first major international sports event after the 1982 Asian Games. For the upcoming 2010 Commonwealth Games the floriculture industry is also preparing itself. The industry is concentrating on the production of flowers to meet the demand during the common wealth games. Apart from the flower producers the flower retailers are also concentrating on forth coming games. Floral retailers are expanding manpower to meet the demand because of common wealth games and October is also wedding season so the demand of the flowers is likely to increase this season. Innovative styling of the wedding with Mandap, unique stage décor, table top arrangements and traditional Hindu ritual accessories like lamps, Dias come as a package with the flower decoration.
"We are hoping that our demand for flowers will go high, so sensing the significance of the events, we are now moving towards to increase option for unique and designer floral gifting said” says a owner of the renowned floral retail chain. We are coming up with innovative ideas of gifts and during the common wealth games that may symbolize common wealth games and that we are proud to be an Indian company, he further added.
