  Dutch breeders to create new golden age for lilies

Dutch breeders  are gilding the lily flowers, and are trying to raise the standard of cut flower favorite that brings long-lasting beauty to gardens.

New varieties of flowers with deep and beautiful colours, stronger stems and softer fragrances are inflowing   the floral market, prompting retailers to frequently update their websites and catalogues with the new variety in flowers.

They bloom for a long time, and gives pleasure to a viewer when placed in any hand bunch or centre table arrangements.

They're colourful and often elegantly used in the decors in any weddings or events.  Lilies are available in different heights  and are used as per the requirements like the shorter varieties are well suited to be decorated in any containers or pots. Whereas the lilies with the tall sticks are used in and elegance to its making arrangements and hand bunches which ads style arrangement.

Lilies are unusual in a way that they can be planted even in fall or spring, they grow either way. Traditionally, there were only four variety of  lilies which were available: Asiatic lily, Oriental lily, Longiflorum and Trumpet. But the Dutch breeders have actively crossed these varieties, and has successfully produced 60 to 70 new varieties on an average, each year. Most of them are developed to boost the quality and  make shipping easier for the cut flower industry.

The most common variety of flowers which re developed are Longiflorum-Oriental varieties, it carry traits of both - notably large blooms and heavy fragrance. That also goes for another variety which is produced i.e  Oriental-Asiatics, with their bright colours, shiny foliage and softer scent, which attracts the customers and suffice their needs in the best way.

Then another variety Longiflorum-Asiatic, which exhibit a brightly coloured, trumpet-shaped bloom has features like double-petal and spider varieties makes it easy to understand why flower growers and admirers also call this the new golden age of the lily.The Fresh flower industry is now focusing  to bring the industry, the breeder and the consumer together to see what  new varieties can be produced. This revolution will involve education with seminars, lectures and displays of cut flowers to enhance the knowledge of the growers and users.
